Information:
The GFF is football's
regulating body which was founded on the 3rd of November,
1952 and has been affiliated to FIFA
(soccer's world's governing body) since 1968 and is also affiliated
with CAF. It oversees
the various leagues such as the First Division, the Women's
League.
It
presently operates out of a purpose built building near the
near the national Independence Stadium in Bakau.
History:
The origins of the Gambia Football Federation go all the way
back to the founding of the Bathurst League in 1940 which
featured teams such as Dingareh, Augustinians, Young Lions,
East End Lions, Gambia United, Black Diamonds and the MSU.
Matches were played in MacCarthy Square and later in
the early 1950s moved to Box Bar Stadium in the capital of
Banjul.
In 1955 an inaugural congress met and B.O. Semega-Janneh was
elected as its first President with W.B. Thomas as the Vice
President.
