Information:
The Edma Nursery School was founded in Brufut Santo
Su in November 2009 by its principal Mrs. Fatou Njie-Hydara.
This was in order to provide a means to assist at least
50 poor children from the local community and surrounding
areas to get an affordable and decent start to their
early childhood education in a good standard kindergarten
in The Gambia.
Only about half of the students have to pay any kind
of school fees. It currently employs 3 full-time teaching
staff and 2 cleaning ladies.
Since Edma Nursery School opened its doors it has seen
over 23 kids graduate onto Lower Basic Schools and are
progressing at an acceptable level.
Edma's playgroup is always in need of funds and appeals
for sponsorship from those wishing to help the children
of The Gambia. This could take the form of money, writing
materials such as coloured pencils, crayons, paper,
toys, early learning books and the like.
Directions:
Head from the Kanifing Municipal Council (Kmc) up towards
the Brusubi turntable then turn right and go down until
you get to Brufut Village.
