Information:
The GPDSA was founded in 1998 and is made up of a group
of disabled Gambian youths who gather every Monday,
Wednesday and Saturday for sport and recreation on the
KMC training ground, on Kairaba Avenue, Serrekunda.
The NGO is a non-religious organisation that represents
the sporting branch of the Gambia Association Of The
Physically Disabled (GAPD) which set it up after receiving
a large number of requests for recreational and sporting
activities from physically challenged people in order
to improve their health and wellbeing.
The G.P.D.S.A is pledged to providing recreational programs
for disabled persons and to establish a forum for the
exchange of views.
Objectives: • To provide sporting contests
for disabled athletes. • To inform the general
public about paraplegic sport. • To create
disabled clubs in each regional council in Gambia.
Present Activities: • Basket ball games.
• Media awareness of their activities via newspapers,
radio & television. • Sitting & wheelchair

Support & Funding:
The association is financed by various sources such
as membership fees, private individuals, sponsorship
work, money raised from ticket fees for tournaments,
companies and non-governmental organisations. |
