Information:
The NBC Radio was established in the town of Kerewan
in 1996 to serve the people of the North Bank Region.
The station staff includes a station manager, broadcasters/announcers,
a night watchman and a cleaner. The management has created
a station in Kerewan that is fully operational and financially
self-sustaining with room for growth. The plan is to
do the same for the Barra area.
The radio's management is advised by a board of 13 members
from the local community, ensuring accountability and
responsiveness to community concerns and needs. The
board is the overriding management authority of the
station and appoints a station manager who is answerable
to the board and serves as its secretary.
Their regular programs includes a health clinic day,
development, education, youth and women's forum, community
news and drama in Mandinka, Fula and Wolof.
