Background Information:
The Gambia Ministry of Tourism & Culture (MOTC)
is a ministry of the government of the west African
country Gambia. The headquarters of the ministry is
in The Quadrangle building of the capital at Banjul.
The ministry is responsible for the tourism
sector of the economy and overseeing its activities
as well as ensuring that government policies and carried
out. They are also have responsibility for Gambia
Hotel School.
The Minister is responsible for the safeguarding, overseeing
management and development of tourism and culture
in Gambia. The Minister is assisted by the team of employees
both at the policy level the department Banjul and other
regional institutions.
The chief adviser to the Minister is the Permanent Secretary
who also performs the duties of an accounting officer.
The Permanent Secretary is aided by the Deputy Permanent
Secretary who acts as the supervising head of the administration
responsible for staff issues.
MOTC also works with other stakeholders both in the
public and private sector institutions who operate in
the area of tourism and culture with the aim of
joining efforts to allow for the promotion and development
and promotion of tourism in The Gambia. With this aim,
MOTC has direct supervisory responsibility in relation
to the Gambia Tourism Board , National
Council for Arts & Culture, Arch 22 on Independence
Drive and Gambia Hotel School. |
