Information:
Westfield Clinic in Serrekunda town was founded in May
1969. It is a long established private medical clinic
and was the country's first indigenously owned and privately
managed clinic with charitable status.
The healthcare facility provides modern outpatient and
in-patient private healthcare services for Gambians
and non-Gambians alike. It is also a referral clinic
for tourists with a travel
insurance policy as well as foreign residents with
an expat insurance policy.
Routine Healthcare Appointments.
There are various doctors who carry out morning sessions
from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm and afternoon sessions from
4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
Emergencies:
The medical facility is open 24 hours a day, all year
round. A doctor is available to attend to patients out
of hours between 8 pm and 8 am. Westfield can be contacted
directly by phone or the patient can come over to the
clinic.
Health Check:
The healthcare facility carries out routine vital signs
check-up of patients to see if they have any hidden
health issues. The health centre will check a patient's
blood pressure, heart rate, height and weight. A urine
test is carried out for those at risk of developing
diabetes.
Any specific tests will depend upon the patient's medical
history, age and any presenting symptoms.
Admissions:
The health centre has a number of in-patient beds. There
are 2 open wards with 3 to 5 beds, 3 single wards and
3 wards with two beds. In circumstances where a patient
needs more specialised care, they are assigned to a
tertiary referral hospital. There is usually an ambulance
on site.
Diagnostic Services:
Aside from ultrasound services the clinic runs its own
laboratory to carry out biochemistry, microbiology and
haematology tests.

Varying surgeries are performed, ranging from general
surgeries to orthopedics and more.

Westfield Clinic provides for routine immunisations
of infants and older children from their practice nurse.
