Review:
The Gunjur Project Lodge is located in the serene,
rural coastal village of Gunjur, in Kombo South. It
was set up by a UK based charity organisation aiming
to help to improve the education and health of local
villagers through income generated from the lodge.
The project welcomes people seeking volunteer holidays
to Gambia as well as cultural tourists, birdwatchers,
specialists in group stays, and those wanting to get
away from the hectic tourist scene further north.
The Gunjur Project Lodge has 8 clean en-suite rooms,
a swimming pool, an open-air bar and restaurant, as
well as a camping site. All are set in a large, well
maintained and landscaped garden area. Not far away
you will find an almost deserted beach with just the
odd passers-by and maybe a few
cows taking a short-cut to grazing
areas.
