![]() ![]() At the 1999 Gambian Rap Awards, Dancehall Master won the category award for 'Best New Group'. In October of the same year they released 'Brother Man' which urged the youth of The Gambia not to live in frustration and despair about their plight. In 2002 they won the ‘prix de l’intégration’ at the hip-hop awards in Dakar. In 2003 they signed a recording and marketing contract with the Dakar based record label Metropol-2 Records. Their publicist is Aime Boissy. "The excellence of Dancehall Masters' style was easily vivid to Senegalese music fans," Boissy said. "The boys were quickly initiated into the hall of the fans idols." In 2003, Mame Bala signed a 5 year contract with Buba Ndour; producer, and brother of Youssou Ndour, and moving back to Senegal in 2004. He appeared as a guest artist on Viviane Ndour's 2004 international album ‘Esprit, Viviane et frères’. His first Album was titled Senegambia and the song Vacance Yi’ became a big hit in Gambia and Senegal.
